4.6 Management Review

Management Review
The Director of Public Works leads the Continuous Improvement process by periodically conducting a comprehensive review of the EMS and associated progress toward objectives and targets.

At least annually, the Director and/or Deputy Director and Division Chiefs review the EMS to ensure its continuing:

  • Suitability to the PW mission, vision and culture,

  • Adequacy in fulfilling policy and requirements of ISO 14001, and

  • Effectiveness in managing and improving environmental performance.

Each review considers the need for possible changes in the Environmental Policy, Environmental Objectives and other elements of the EMS. These changes may be appropriate based on EMS audit results, changing circumstances, and commitment to continual improvement.

PW has established a process for Management Review that ensures the necessary information is collected to allow PW top management to perform the review. (See PW procedure EMS-270, Management Review, available on the PW Intranet). The EMS Management Representative coordinates the agenda for Management Review meetings. All Reviews are documented.
