Transferring Technology While Reducing Risks
A primary goal of the NDCEE is to transfer cost-effective, validated technology solutions that meet DoD ESOH requirements, enhance mission readiness, and support sustainability and transformation objectives. The NDCEE uses a systematic technical approach to ensure that needs are carefully assessed, candidate technologies are thoroughly evaluated, and attractive solutions are promoted throughout the DoD:
- Problem Assessment: Analyzing customer needs and requirements and developing a preliminary technology transfer plan.
- Alternative Solutions: Identifying potential technology solutions and selecting the most promising alternative to meet customer's criteria.
- Technology Demonstration: Planning and demonstrating technology testing and validating technology performance.
- Technology Justification: Preparing the technical and business case for technology investment. Finalizing the technology transfer plan.
- Initial Technology Implementation: Installing, optimizing, and operating the new technology. Training operator and maintenance personnel.
- Outreach and Follow-up: Preparing and disseminating information on the technology for potential users. Providing follow-up support.
This flexible approach may be adapted to use only those steps that a customer requires. It is designed to avoid duplication of efforts, reduce implementation risks, and improve the DoD's return on technology investments.
